Scott Brisbane Dip Acup ND BEd (Env Sci)

Acupuncturist, Craniosacral Therapist and Naturopath

Scott Brisbane has over 25 years experience working as a natural therapist in Melbourne. He is also yoga teacher and a senior lecturer at the Australian Shiatsu College. Over the past 25 years he has lectured at many colleges and run various courses and workshops on many aspects of natural medicine.

The main focus of his work at the Natural Healing Centre in Mitcham is using acupuncture and craniosacral therapy to help to stimulate the natural self-healing abilities of the body. Scott has a holistic approach, believing that to heal the body you have to look at the whole person with an understanding of how the body, mind and spirit together create balance and health.

Acupuncture is an ancient healing method developed in China over 2000 years ago. It has been refined over time to become a popular treatment world wide for a broad range of conditions. Based on stimulating and moving energy in the body’s meridian pathways, acupuncture is scientifically proven to help many disease states. It has uses in almost any condition and can be used as an adjunct to other therapies.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle hands on treatment performed over clothing. It is a deeply powerful way of helping the body to heal itself. The practitioner acts as the facilitator gently guiding the body’s energy towards health and balance. Craniosacral therapy is effective in many conditions including those that have not responded to other therapies. It is also an effective treatment for babies and children and is often used in young babies to help with colic and sleeping difficulties.

The list of conditions that can be treated with acupuncture and craniosacral therapy is extensive and includes: acute and chronic back and neck pain, headaches and migraine, hayfever and sinusitis, arthritis, menopausal symptoms, fertility issues in men and women, IVF support, asthma, digestive complaints, depression and anxiety, insomnia, tension, poor circulation and general health maintenance.

“It doesn’t really matter what the complaint is. I look at the whole person and treat them accordingly. These treatments can be used for almost any condition or as part of a general health maintenance program.”

Scott uses acupuncture and craniosacral therapy as separate treatments or in conjunction with each other. He practises at the Natural Healing Centre in Mitcham on Mondays and Fridays.
