Margaret Klemick
Dip. Health Science Nutrition

Margaret Klemick is a nutritional consultant. Nutrition establishes the relationship between a person’s diet and level of health. A variety of dietary plans cater for individual needs such as weight management, fatigue and digestive disorders, hormonal issues and stress. Margaret takes great pleasure in educating others to improve their health and well-being.

A nutritional consultant requires a food diary to be filled out and bought to the first consultation. The diary is used to discover imbalances in nutrients that may be causing health issues. A treatment plan is then worked out that might require simple changes to eating and cooking habits. Supplements may be required to enhance the treatment. Printed information sheets and recipes are provided so that programs can be easily followed.

Margaret has always been involved in health and fitness. She has in the past taught aerobics and healthy cooking classes.

 Craniosacral therapy

CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, light touch technique used to release pain, tension and restrictions in the body. The focus of the work is on the cranisacral system which includes the bones of the face, skull, spine and sacrum as well as the fluid membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The practitioner can work on the craniosacral system through your clothing an any part of the body.

Although everyone experiences CranioSacral Therapy differently it is usually a very relaxing experience. It is a very gentle and extremely effective treatment for a range of conditions. CranioSacral Therapy excels in the treatment of chronic pain. People report a strong sense of wellbeing after a CranioSacral Therapy session.

CranioSacral Therapy is also known as Cranial Sacral therapy and is closely related to Cranial osteopathy. All of these terms tend to be  used to describe the same thing.

History

Cranio Sacral Therapy has its origins in modern osteopathy. When Dr. William Sutherland studied the separate bones of the skull he postulated that those bones had the appearance of structures made for movement. At the time the adult human skull was said to be completely fused.

Sutherland set about designing an experiment to test whether the skull was in motion or if indeed it was a fixed structure. He devised a special helmut with screws to tighten the helmet over specific bones of the skull so as to prevent even the slightest movement. Hi experiment was on himself. He and his wife wrote down their observations of his physical and mental symptoms and behaviours.

He was the first person to recognise the movement of the cranial bones and the expansion and contraction that occurs in the cerbrospinal fluid within the skull.

In the 1970's Dr. John Upledger, made his own observations of the nervous system. He expanded Sutherland's theory to include the whole of the spine. He added the sacrum, the brain and the spinal cord and the fluid and membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. His treatments based on this system became known as craniosacral therapy.

Conditions treated with Craniosacral therapy: Migraines and Headaches, Chronic neck and back pain, Stress and tension, Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries, Post traumatic stress disorder, Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ),Emotional Difficulties, Chronic Fatigue,Central Nervous System Disorders, Scoliosis, Arthritis, Asthma, Birth Trauma, Bronchitis, Colic, Deppression, Digestive Problems, Drug Withdrawal, Frozen Shoulder, Hormonal inbalances, Insomnia, Menstuation pain PMS and others.

Sore after the dentist?

Sitting in a dentist's chair for 30 to 60 mins with your jaw wide open can place considerable stress on your body. Then there is the dental procedure itself which can have a compacting affect on the bones of the face and skull and therefore the neck and spine in general.

It is not uncommon for people to feel that lower back pain they haven't felt for year after dental work. More commonly the head and neck just don't feel right and this imbalance can affect the whole body.

CranioSacral Therapy can help in those situations where there is pain and discomfort following dental procedures.

Lingering toothache after dental work and pain after extractions can be alliviated after a Craniosacral session.

Also, orthodontic braces can restrict the bone of the face and jaw. The pain and headaches people can feel after orthodondic procedure or tightening of the braces can also be alleviated by a CranioSacral Therapy session.

"I believe strongly in the self healing abilities of the body and use Acupuncture, CranioSacral Therapy and Flower Essences to stimulate the healing process. I believe it is important to treat the whole self rather than just the symptoms. I specialize in the treatment of painful conditions and I enjoy the challenge of treating people with chronic pain".

Acupuncture:

The scientific evidence continues to mount on the efficacy of acupuncture on a myriad of complaints. The Chinese have been practising and refining Acupuncture for over 2000 years. In China today traditional Chinese medicine is on par with modern Western medicine and the Chinese people choose which type of treatment they want for their various ailments.

The theory of Acupuncture is that the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body stimulates the flow of "qi" or energy. The points occur on meridians or channels that flow through the body and connect to the vital organs. A skilled acupuncturist can diagnose sublte imbalances within the organ system and take action to re-balance people with chronic pain.

Acupuncture has been shown to be successful in helping a wide range of conditions including: Chronic back pain and injuries, Neck and shoulder pain, Headaches and Migraines, Infertility and IVF assistance, Menstral problems, Nervous disorders and anxiety, Stress and fatigue, Digestive disorders, Sports injuries, Asthma management, Memory and concentration difficulties, Cold and flu, Insomnia, Allergies, Sinusitis and hayfever, Constipation and Diarrhoea, Menopausal symptoms, Skin and hair problems.
