My Trip Abroad
Dr. Nerida James N.D.
August 29th 2011
Hi all, thought I would write up a debrief on my adventurous trip abroad. I
was away 9 weeks although had intended on 4 weeks originally. About 6
days of that time was flying there and back and within the USA!
I arrived in Los Angeles on the 19th June and was picked up by Narconon
International staff. I was taken to a lovely hotel, the Marriot and was looked
after like a queen.

The Executive Director Phil Hart and his wife took me on that Sunday to my very
first American Bass Ball game. The Dodgers were playing…oh I forget which
team, the Dodgers lost but it was a very exciting experience and I came back with
a signed Dodgers Base Ball!! See Photo (:The next day I went into Narconon
headquarters in LA and did a long write up on the Get Off Drugs Naturally centre
using Narconon techniques here in Warburton East, with the view of getting
some education on improving speed of delivery and improving the marketing
campaign here in Australia so more Australians know this fantastic centre is here to help those in need.
This has resulted in me finding Jeannie, a woman who has worked in drug
and alcohol rehabilitation for Narconon for over 20 years. She is a veteran
and a trouble shooter for Narconon around the world. We now have Jeannie
here for 12 months (or more I hope) to achieve more expansion for our
centre.
After a few days there, I flew to New York (specifically Staten Island) but on
the way over we landed in Chicago and as I was changing planes a Tornado
hit the Chicago Airport. I was hustled into a long underground tunnel with
about 1000 other passengers while the storm hit the Airport. By this time all
planes were grounded and I was stranded at 11pm in Chicago with all the
motels full. I have a girlfriend Jan who I had not seen for 4 years and
remembered she has a partner in Chicago even though she lives in Florida
most of the year. I emailed and text messaged her…low and behold she had
arrived in Chicago the day before…so needless to say she drove to the
Airport, picked me up and I stayed overnight with a good friend (: We had
wanted to try and catch up prior to my leaving Australia but didn‟t think our
schedules would allow us to do so!! It took a Tornado to force us together!!
The next day I flew out to New York to meet the mother, sister and brothers
of my daughter Afrika‟s fiancé!! I had not met them before and they turned
out to be absolutely lovely people that showered me with gifts including my
favourite, a black Coach handbag. Which I promptly changed over to and
have used ever since!! We had family dinners and went to Stomp - a
fantastic stage show in downtown Manhattan!!
Alas, I had to leave them and flew on an internal flight to Monroe Michigan
(about 40 minutes outside of Detroit). Here is where Bob my partner resides
6 months of the year, when he‟s not here in Australia or off on some other
adventure.
OMG it was hot, so hot everywhere!! 90 to 100 degrees (Fahrenheit) with
90% humidity...you were all back home freezing and I was on vitamin B6
and electrolytes to stop my feet and ankles from swelling and to stop heat
exhaustion!
We went to work painting and repairing pools and we went to a Sheryl Crow
concert...great music! Then it was time for me to move onto the Freewinds.
This is one of the most beautiful cruise ships you will ever see. I have
included a photo of her. I picked her up in the Caribbean, she was docked in
Aruba. She holds about 600 passengers of which 200 are staff and crew who
work on the ship itself delivering courses, seminars, conferences and
lectures.

We sailed Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao - three Caribbean Islands…while we
sailed mostly over night we were docked during the days. I just loved
sleeping to the rock of the ship while sailing.
All the while I was studying and having advanced counseling for my
personal enhancement! These actions were fantastic as the process allowed
me to feel stronger and more alert, more aware of things around me and I
achieved a greater certainty and intuition (:
During my stay one of the top executives had a bad shoulder and I was asked
if I wouldn‟t mind taking a look at it by the ship‟s Doctor. Of course I did
not and when it resulted in fast relief I then got about 4 other shoulders to fix
and then knees and feet and the next thing I had a mini practice set up in the
Doctor‟s office in the ship and would treat 3 to 4 to 5 patients every night.
The staff on the Freewinds just loved the natural medicine, Iris diagnosis and
the energy balancing technique (EBT) we use for food and environmental
sensitivities!! Plus of course the massage and manipulations I did...I don‟t
think they had ever seen a doctor that had such a wide range of skills that
could diagnose and treat just about anything short of surgery!!
Needless to say they would have loved me to have stayed permanently…but
I assured them, my friends, family and patients back here in Australia would
be most upset if I abandoned them all!!
During this time we sailed to Columbia - specifically the city on the coast
called Cartagena. This was a 26 hour sail day and night and one day I was
sitting on the deck having a cup of tea to suddenly see the horizon start to
change and gradually we were on a 65 degree angle to the horizon and
things were flying everywhere. Then just as suddenly we were up right
again….it was very exciting and scary at the same time. We had hit an
enormous swell which had rolled the big ship and for the first time in 20
years the glass of water that sits on the bridge, which had never spilled did
so!!
Arriving into Cartagena was beautiful with lush green trees and foliage
everywhere and old Spanish forts on points of land entering the huge bay the
city sits around. The centre of the huge city has the OLD CITY still
standing. It was built around 1726 and is all stone with cobble stone streets
in such good condition and many large buildings; churches and city halls
and beautiful old hotels. The people speak Spanish and have been oppressed
for many years by rebel Militia that work for the Columbian drug
Lords...this has made Columbia in the past a very dangerous place to travel
and until very recently has been number 2 or 3 on the UN watch list for
human rights abuses.
BUT this has all changed and largely due to the Freewinds and it‟s dedicated
staff!! Two years ago the Freewinds needed some repair done to the Ship and
the only Port that could assist in that repair was Cartagena. When the Ship
arrived there was a riot going on and one of the Freewinds staff said to the
police in the Port authority here take boxes of these booklets and have your
police hand them out to the rioter‟s. Well unbelievably it stopped the riot
completely. Of course the Police chief became very interested in how a
booklet could do this! So the Freewinds offered to train some of the police
on the course about this Booklet known as the WAY TO HAPPINESS.
To cut a long and incredible story short, ever since the Freewinds has
fundraised to buy more and more Way to Happiness booklets for the police
to give out en mass to the Columbian people country wide!! This has had an
enormous impact and has resulted in a lot of the drug Cartels leaving
Columbia and the rebel Militia that worked for them, during an amnesty,
now coming out of the jungles and being trained by the Military Police to
become part of their Government forces for the good of the country.
Freewinds have not only handed out 1000‟s of these booklets, they have also
trained several hundred Columbian police on the Way To Happiness course
and other basic courses offered by the Freewinds such as Success Through
Communication, Problems Of Work courses and Personal Efficiency
courses. The Freewinds has now received awards from Interpol, the FBI, the
Military and of course the head of the Columbian Police Colonel Ricardo
Prada for their humanitarian work in helping the peoples of Columbia.
While I was graduating some of the courses that I went there to do, so were
80 police graduating their courses. I found myself sitting in a course room
with up to 60 Police studying in their uniforms around me!! It was quite
something.

The crime rate for the country has reported a 50% drop and the murder and
rape statistics has dropped by 60%. The United Nations has just removed
Columbia off the Human Rights abuse watch list and the Columbian Police
are building an academy called „Police For Peace‟ to train top Police
Officials and FBI officials from up to 8 countries on this Way to Happiness
Program that Columbia has embraced! Police from these other Countries
have been asking “what are you guys doing?” so as a result this new
academy has been set up!
I personally donated considerable funds to help with this project and we as a
group on the ship raised enough funds to send 800,000 copies out to the
spectators of under 21 world soccer trials being held in Cartanga while we
were there, all in the hope we could curb the violence that is often prevalent
at football games such as this. To my knowledge there was not one violent
incident in the first week of the games. We sailed back to Aruba before the
second week was over.
Colonel Prado personally thanked me… I have attached his commendation
he wrote and signed for me after my for my help.

I also went out a couple of nights into the old city and handed out a lot of
Way to happiness DVD‟s and booklets into the hands of the Columbian
people. I, with about 30 other Freewinds passengers were picked up by the
police vans and driven to the city. We walked around handing out booklets
and DVD‟s for about 2 and ½ hours and then we got driven back to the Ship.
It was very exciting and I just loved looking back over my shoulder and
seeing scores of people heads down reading the little booklet!!
I was astounded by the impact that getting such a simple booklet out can
have on a whole Country in just 2 years!! This booklet and course is the last
step on the Get off Drugs Naturally Narconon program we do here in
Victoria!!
I then flew back to American from Aruba as we had sailed back there after
Columbia and I spent a week with Bob my partner in Monroe, Michigan
before flying home! Lucky me...when I got to Bob‟s house 5 doors down in
a park by the river he lives on, there was a free Jazz concert and Kenny G
was the guest artist for this year. So I had front row seats on the lawn in the
summer evening of 80 degrees, a balmy night listening to cool Jazz and
afterwards Kenny signed a CD which I bought home and gave to Marg our
Book keeper and reception staff member you may have met on a trip to the
Mitcham clinic! She loves Kenny G and was tickled pink as they say, with
her present!!
So all in all it was a very eventful and productive time and if anyone wants a
Way to Happiness DVD or Booklet please let me know and I will get one for
you!!
Yours in health ML Dr. Nerida James x x x
